Leaving aside the potential for getting fired, I suppose it would depend on what the textbook introduction said, as to whether it would be worthy of ripping out. If it was anything like J Evans Pritchard's absurd nonsense ("We're not laying pipe. We're talking about poetry!") I'd be all in favouring of ripping. :)
