Let's just say I have a large collection of DVDs and Blu Rays. :)

I discuss more of the philosophy you mention in later instalments, but I will say this: I don't trust government organisations to dictate what is and isn't suitable viewing for my child. I decide. What's more, context is everything. I consider no subject matter off limits to children. It is all about the treatment, and I certainly don't hand wring over individual swear words, smoking, violence, sex, or anything else. Again, context is everything. The other deciding factor is the robustness and intelligence of the child in question, and how willing they are to engage with incisive, challenging material. All children are different in this respect. For example, one child shares my love of horror, the other does not. But again, more on that in upcoming instalments.

I have a similar attitude regarding what books I let my children read. More on that here, if you're interested. :)
