Michael Mohr, completely agreed. I'm sure my gothic mystery horror-thriller novels are far better for having read and studied the Bronte Sisters, Susan Hill, Shirley Jackson, Henry James, Daphne Du Maurier, MR James, and more recently authors like Laura Purcell. Judging by Amazon and Goodreads reviews, my readers have (correctly) pointed to this lot as being an influence, but (I'm pleased to report), also point to my novels being singular in their own right. :)
