Mulholland Drive’s Cowboy a commentary on Dune? That’s a fascinating theory.

I give Lynch credit for the following with Dune: The production design, costumes, music score, and some (though not all) of the visual effects (he ran out of money and it shows).

My understanding is that so far Villeneuve has avoided the Guild entirely, along with the Emperor, Irulan, etc. Those characters are only referred to in passing. No Feyd yet either.

With the Dune novels, I like the first three (though I see your point about the prescience thing), but after that they rather go downhill.
