My first agent was gutted when he drew a blank with my novel Love vs Honour. I self-published it in the end, but in retrospect it's definitely not one of my stronger novels. It is flawed in one major way - the male romantic lead simply isn't likeable enough. I opted for "ultra-realistic" and now I realise that was a mistake, considering the genre. It's still a solid story though, and an interesting failure I learnt from.
