My reading of it. I disagree with you here. This is a cracking scene. Schlocky? Yes. But effective.

…a malevolent supernatural element to her that the rest of the film doesn’t substantiate. Or, perhaps it’s simply saying that people who have bad experiences might have nightmares about them afterwards, which is hardly groundbreaking.
