My wife did it between 2004 and 2021. It made sense for us personally, for all sorts of reasons, but not because of some idiotic gender dogma.
Now she's back at work with a proper job (and doing brilliantly, as she always did), whilst I juggle freelance writing of various kinds and flounce about in my best impression of a struggling artist. In between all that, I do a lot more of the washing, housework, and cooking than I used to (casualties are down to what the Pentagon would call "acceptable losses" on the latter) because I'm here a lot more. Frankly I'm a lot happier these days, by the way (and all joking aside, I'm actually getting better at better with my culinary skills). I don't think I ever want to go back to a "proper job". :)
