Nor am I. The idea that Christians should be missionaries in places like Africa by default (or else just boringly fill pews) is an ideology that kept me from God for years as a teenager. It was only when I heard a remarkable sermon at the age of 21, in which the preacher said God wanted people in all walks of life - including the media (I was just starting a TV job and worked in television for 23 years before becoming a full-time writer) - that the penny finally dropped for me. Some people are made by God to be missionaries in remote places, but I wasn't one of them, and that was absolutely fine.

Unfortunately, in general, I found evangelical churches would respect professions in the following order:

1. Full time ministry.

2. "Vocational" professions: Medicine, teaching, charity work, etc.

3. Business.

4 - 13,455,788 Other professions.

13,455,789. Media.

You get the idea. :)
