Nor do I. Extreme gore of that kind doesn't interest me in and of itself. I don't find such films scary. Revolting, yes, but not scary.

Extreme gore is done well in a horror film when it is served in counterpoint to something else. For instance, satire and black comedy (in zombie films, or more recently The Substance).
