Not from me, I assure you. I say bollocks to all the naysayers. The Little Mermaid is exciting, fun, romantic escapism, and frankly I feel sorry for anyone incapable of suspending disbelief and enjoying it.

Besides being beautifully animated and having a fabulous score (Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl being particular highlights), I actually think it captures idealistic teenage romantic yearning pretty well (and this is coming from a heterosexual male). I also think it captures teenage pushback against misguided overbearing parental authority well.

On top of that, the film is just damn funny. Sebastian the crab evading the French chef cracks me up every time.

My only real issue is the happy ending does feel a little tacked-on and forced (the Hans Christian Anderson original is much darker) but on the other hand, a Disney film of this kind could hardly end unhappily. So yes - the big romantic send off is appropriate and satisfying here. And I don't give an airborne fornication about it being politically incorrect (and, I would add, nor should you or anyone else, if they enjoy it). :)
