Not quite at the same level. Star Wars literally changed the course of cinema history worldwide, dividing it into BC/AD epochs, so to speak. The Matrix would have not been possible without Star Wars, and quite honestly it is hard to make a case for The Matrix having quite the same seismic impact. I'd even argue The Matrix has always been somewhat flawed (there are a few scenes I'd have trimmed or cut) and narratively it isn't as original as everyone seems to think (it borrows extensively from William Gibson).

All that said, the film was visually hugely influential and groundbreaking, it is a landmark in popular culture, and the first film remains a very good watch.
