Not really. Again, I just rolled my eyes at all the reheated film noir tropes, and got the distinct impression Verhoeven was taking the piss, chortling wickedly to himself. It's an enjoyably transgressive romp, but obviously reprehensible if any moral standards whatsoever are applied.
