Obviously I agree - as any sane, rational, free-thinking person would - one hundred percent.

My own take on the appropriateness for children question is very simple: Can they read and comprehend it? If yes, let them read it (in some cases with curated introductions giving context, and subsequent discussion of the themes, ideas, subject matter, and so on). That has been the approach with my children, and now (they are 13 and 18) I start to see the fruits of this. It has encouraged diversity of vocabulary, depth of knowledge, and development of critical thinking on many subjects. In short, they are all the things those insecure in power would wish to suppress. We need many more like them, to hold such power to account.
