Obviously, we're dealing with very different issues here in the UK, but this was a hugely enjoyable insight into the Thanksgiving dinner. At Christmas, many here will have their chance to interact with awkward relatives, though the arguments will be on very different subjects.
In our case, for the first time in over twenty years, we won't be alone with just the four of us on Christmas Day. My mother-in-law and my sister-in-law are finally accepting our invitation (they live on the opposite side of the country to us, on the wrong side of the M25, as I often say). Should be fun. Thankfully, both relatives in question are wonderful, so I seriously doubt family strife will be on the menu. The awkward relatives in our family lie elsewhere, and will not be in attendance.
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
