…r made a better film, with a better lead performance than Sean Connery's. As good, yes, but better? The shootout scene in the train station with the slow motion baby carriage going down the stairs is still, I think, taught in film schools as an example of a masterfully filmed and edited scene.

Of course, this is directly inspired by the extraordinary Odessa Steps sequence from Battleship Potemkin. But De Palma pays brilliant tribute to it here. And yes - certainly with his earlier work, he seems a natural successor to Hitchcock. :)
