OK - offbeat feel-good films... How about Grosse Pointe Blank? It's darkly hilarious, but underneath it all, I find the love story rather touching. It's as much a rom-com as it is scathing satire on Gen X/Reaganism (professional hitman attends high school reunion, only to find all his classmates became killers of one kind or another).
A few more (trying to avoid the obvious shouts like Mary Poppins, The Railway Children, It's a Wonderful Life, Field of Dreams, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Paddingtons 1 and 2, Inside Out, Up, etc): Adventureland, Napoelon Dynamite, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Billy Elliot, Gregory's Girl, Local Hero, Babe, Moonrise Kingdom, Sing Street.
