Please see item 5 on this list (link below). I care about one thing in films: Is it a good story, well told? I appreciate all genres, and it drives me absolutely nuts when people try to bring in divisive nonsense about whether a film is for men or women. My wife is more into sci-fi, action, gangster films, etc, than I am. I'm far more into romantic comedies, and especially romantic tragedies, than she is. It constantly pisses me off when people assume women have no interest in sci-fi just as it pisses me off when people assume I don’t like rom-coms because I’m a man. By the way, that sound you hear is a roar of incredulous fury from the many women I know who love sci-fi (including my wife, my sister, my mother, my best friend, and several former colleagues).

So yes - to be clear, I have much sympathy with everything you are writing here. :)
