Random true story: My maternal grandmother (which technically makes me Jewish, so I could claim Israeli citizenship if I wanted to) fled Nazi Germany and came to the UK in the 1930s. During the war, she worked for the RAF as a radio operator. One night when a German bomber was lost in fog over the English Channel, she spoke to him in German, convinced him he was over Hamburg, and talked him down to land him in Dover. That was the end of the war for him. :)
