Re: The English Literature thing, I'll concede that you make a good argument re: trigger warnings and those who require them so they can still learn, and so forth. However, what I have very little time for are those who insist on warnings purely because they wish to indulge in being professionally offended on the behalf of others (as opposed to the very personal triggers you discuss here). But perhaps that's a very different can of worms best left to one side.
