Regarding your second paragraph, I confess that I was particularly keen for the first Dune film to be a success, because I wanted the second film to get made that covers the rest of the novel (which it has, thankfully). But yes, on the whole people are far too anxious about potential sequels. Let's simply focus on the film at hand and make it individually satisfying in its own right. :)
