Sad but true.

Speak to most people and they’re unaware of these sorts of stories , they’re just history. Sure, they can tell you what colour underpants Frodo was wearing when he flung the one ring into the lava but they can’t tell you about Tolkien’s time in the 11th Service Battalion. They can’t tell you how the First World War profoundly influenced his thoughts and his writing — and that’s why they miss the message in the books themselves. Too much attention on the costumes and not enough on the choreography.
