Sadly, you're not missing much here. I have no issue with Whittaker, but the writing in her tenure has been atrociously preachy. Chris Chibnall really isn't a sci-fi writer. He's better off sticking to the detective fiction he's done excellently in the past (check out the first series of Broadchurch, which also features David Tennant, incidentally).
