Saturday Night Fever is an important film, especially in the uncut 18 certificate version (ie R-rated for Americans). But the PG version still has plenty of the darker subtext. I think this is a great analysis, and its a shame so many younger viewers these object to the film without grasping that there's a difference between depicting something and endorsing something (a frequent bugbear of mine).

Also, regarding the excellent soundtrack, my favourite track is Night Fever. Still my favourite Bee Gees song too. :)
