Saying this is an insult to turnips.

This statement reflects someone who has either never read the Bible at all, has an ax to grind, or has the IQ level of a turnip. It can be said with some certainty that without the Bible we would never have had Shakespeare, Cervantes, Hemingway, or McMurtry. Removing any religious or spiritual aspect, the Bible is one of the foundational books of Western Civilization, as I wrote in the article below:
