Several points to make on all this.
1) I don't personally like the idea of a James Bond extended universe. There's no good artistic reason for a Bond extended universe to exist. I prefer to have one film every three years or so, and have it be an event. The Marvel Universe is a one-off, and I think trying to copy it is foolish. Besides, even Marvel has shown signs of artistic fatigue since the last Avengers film. Enough. If it were up to me, there would be a ten year moratorium on superhero films (at least).
2) The Bond franchise can (and does) reinvent itself. Iiked Casino Royale and Skyfall a great deal, but what they did to Bond at the end of No Time to Die was unforgivable (as I discuss here, if you're interested). God help the makers of the new Indiana Jones film if they do as much to him. Things will get Old Testament very quickly. Not that there should be another Indiana Jones film (that ought to have ended in 1989).
3) The Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby films are massively underrated in my opinion. In fact, you might enjoy this essay I wrote on the Bond films (also just before the release of No Time to Die). :)
