Signs is very underrated and I like it a great deal, but The Sixth Sense remains by favourite Shyamalan by some distance. Totally caught me by surprise and blew me away the first time I saw it (in the cinema during the original release), but it’s great on repeat viewings too, even when you know the ending. Unlike Old, it is character centred and very emotionally resonant.
