So you did. Not sure how I missed that. I leapt straight to commenting, I suppose. Anyway, thank you very much. :)

To your other points, I've now written my Superman Returns article, but I'm not sure when it will be released (I tend to plan quite a long way in advance with Medium). But watch this space. :)

Regarding Superman III, I actually didn't see it in the cinema. My first viewing was the TV cut (when it was first shown on TV in the UK, in September 1985 - I was ten at the time). I saw the shorter cinema cut later on, and have always preferred the TV version.

I saw Superman IV in the cinema during the original run in the summer of 1987 (I was much more impressed with James Bond film The Living Daylights that summer, but I was too young to see what I really wanted to see - Robocop and Predator - as they both had an 18 certificate). I saw The Untouchables underage though (15 certificate). Anyway, I can imagine Nuclear Man is scary for a five year old, but I just thought he was silly.

"Oh, no." is incredibly sad, I agree. No need for big special effects. Just the simplest of human frailties. "All those things I can do, all those powers, and I couldn't save him." It's a brilliant, poignant moment - one that has resonated even more powerfully over the last ten years. My father passed away from a sudden heart attack in 2012, when he was 70. He was doing what he loved (climbing a mountain).
