Some comments:

1. I'm pleased Queensland escaped the brunt of this global pandemic, and I hope that continues to be the case after borders open. Sounds like a combination of common sense and geographical advantage did the trick.

2. I'm very sorry about your husband and his father. Regardless of Covid, it is particularly rough to have to make such a journey around Christmas, and I know that must be hard on you too.

3. I can only speak from my perspective (ie living in the south-west), but the media potrays a grossly distorted version of reality here in the UK. Most people are double-jabbed with booster shots currently well underway (we're due to get ours in January). Deaths and hospitalisations are far lower than they were prior to the vaccines, so quite honestly, it really does feel like business as usual. I still wear masks in supermarkets and the like (now mandatory again) and when I go to the cinema (voluntarily), which is normally at least two or three times a week. At any rate, if he is vaccinated, I think with sensible precautions, your husband should be fine. :)
