Some excellent points. I simply want the best films and artists responsible to be nominated and ultimately win, and that means taking a proper look at all aspects of the cinematic year, not just popular ones or those with good marketing campaigns. Hence my point about Charlotte Wells. Every frame of Aftersun cries out in protest against her lack of Best Director nomination. I agree with you about Viola Davis and Danielle Deadwyler too. Both would have been worthy of nomination.

On a more positive note, thank you so much for that interview you sent (with Lawrence Kasdan and David Koepp). Really fascinating. :)
