Some good (and inevitable) choices here. My list would include a lot more pop - Dare by Human League, Rio by Duran Duran, Power, Corruption, & Lies by New Order, Actually by Pet Shop Boys, and I'd squeeze a U2 album in there somewhere (probably The Unforgettable Fire). Since Guns N Roses didn't hit the UK till 1988, Appetite for Destruction can count for that year (Welcome to the Jungle was a single in the UK in 1988, and Paradise City and Sweet Child of Mine in 1989). Also Thriller by Michael Jackson would have to be in there somewhere too. And I've missed out Madonna (the True Blue album would be my choice). Dammit, something would have to give from that lot. Oh well - That's why I tend to write about singles compilations rather than albums. :)
