Some good ideas here. In general, remakes should be kept for lesser films with great ideas that could be improved upon, not stone cold classics. Two objections: 1) The Fly, as I think the Cronenberg version is unlikely to be topped (much as I admire Julia Ducournau). 2) Maximum Overdrive. I can't bear Michael Bay.
