This isn't the first time I've observed this, but it seems the UK music scene was radically different to the US music scene in the 1990s (and frankly, I think ours was better). Yes, you had grunge, which we had here as well, but we also had Britpop and a dance music scene that was extraordinary. My favourite songs of 1996 include tracks from Blur, Suede, Pulp, Oasis, Sleeper, The Bluetones, and Radiohead, as well as dance classics from the likes of Underworld and The Prodigy. And yes, I also enjoyed pop bands like Take That and Spice Girls, as well as Jamiroquai, Electronic, and Pet Shop Boys.
