Some great shouts here. Re: Joan Didion, I love the Harrison Ford carpenter stories. My Dad was highly skilled in woodwork, carpentry, etc, so they had that in common. I love the scene in Witness when Harrison Ford repairs the bird house and then helps raise the barn. He's genuinely good at that kind of stuff. :)
