Some great shouts here (I'm a big fan of The Big Blue, especially in the extended version).

My favourite love stories in the 1980s often came from romantic subplots, for example Cinema Paradiso (another film that must be seen in its extended cut) and Witness (the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis is electrifying). :)
