Some great thoughts here. I've been at the self-publishing novels thing for just over ten years. In that time, I've also had three novels traditionally published by a small indie publisher, but I actually earned considerably less there than I did with my self-published work. So my idea now is to only self-publish unless I finally manage to crack mainstream publishing (I've had a few frustrating near misses). :)
