Sounds like an interesting documentary. The genre has evolved in some interesting ways - for example the "online" film in the likes of Unfriended and Host.

Some found footage films cheat a little - for example, the finale of Chronicle includes CCTV from buildings and so forth spliced in - but it doesn't really bother me if the story is good. I particularly love Trollhunter, but I've never beeen a big fan of The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity.
