It gets worse. After slamming Mark Twain, Henry James, Bram Stoker, and Cormac McCarthy the article lists Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, quite simply one of the finest books ever written about the absurdities of war. Given our recent history, I think we should probably be reading more about the absurdities of war, not less. Apparently, the author just didn’t understand the book (if he read it before dismissing it).
