Thank you. I think it is vitally important to constantly strive to put aside ego and hurt feelings and (in this case) recognise where perhaps one does rely on ones own tropes and cliches. I completed the first draft of a novel earlier this year (another gothic mystery) in which I pointedly resisted including certain tropes with which I have become associated. So no corrupt religious leaders or cults in this one. Plenty of mystery and suspense though. :)
