At the risk of sounding condescending (not my intention, I assure you), I would say that some genres and styles of filmmaking can take longer to appreciate than others, so who knows? Perhaps you will come to like or at least appreciate westerns in the long run. I remember not much caring for Ingmar Bergman when I was younger, but I gradually came to appreciate his films over time. :)
