Thank you for the shout! I should have specified when my story is set - it is actually meant to be Dark Ages rather than Middle Ages, but for this novella it hardly matters. I only mention it because one of the supporting characters from my (as yet unpublished) Dark Ages set fantasy novel Ravenseed features briefly in this story too (in an upcoming instalment). At any rate, the hint in Ravenseed (though it is never stated explicitly) is that the narrative takes place during the reign of King Arthur.
