Regarding Superman II, one of these days I intend to write a detailed article about that film, as I feel there is a masterpiece as good as the first Superman somewhere between the Donner cut and the Lester cut. Each version has good things, and I still think the Lester cut is superior overall, but both have significant flaws that could be corrected by a re-edit that incorporates the best of both worlds.
As it stands, Superman II is still great fun, but not in the same league as the first film for me. Although having said that, Terence Stamp’s Zod is definitive. “Why do you say this to me, when you know I will kill you for it?”
