That summarises my thoughts too. I don't think this incident deserved a single headline of any kind.

American culture is weird. I'm generalising, but they seem puritanical in public and perverted in private. Perhaps that's why films like Blue Velvet feel so believable, with white picket fences and "wholesome" American exteriors, peeled back to reveal a dark, disturbing underbelly of sex and violence. (One of my favourite films, by the way.)
