That's fair enough. Personally, I'm of the opposite opinion and am very pleased about some of the more original work in mainstream Hollywood this year (Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Are You There God, It's Me Margaret, for instance). But Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was an exception. I thought that one was brilliant.
Of course, cinema outside mainstream Hollywood remains as creative, incisive, and challenging as ever.
