That's the primary reason I didn't like it too. I just don't understand how something like this is a hit, yet something like last year's genuinely charming Rye Lane isn't.
My favourite romantic comedies are mostly from the classic Hollywood period - Think Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, Ninotchka, It Happened One Night, The Lady Eve, The Philadelphia Story, Roman Holiday, The Apartment, etc. Plus later 20th Century gems like The Graduate, Annie Hall, When Harry Met Sally, and Four Weddings and a Funeral. :)
