The brilliance of this film is it is open to multiple interpretations. My spiritual reading of The Truman Show is it is a kind of Pilgrim's Progress story, with Truman heading to salvation discovering "truth" and Christof as the Devil, who ultimately cannot stop anyone truly determined to escape. On the other hand, others have read it as an anti-Christian parable, with Truman escaping a Garden of Eden type paradise, trading innocence for knowledge, and Christof as God rather than the Devil. It's a truly great film.
