The Dillon Empire Attempts to Conquer Medium: One Year On

In which I congratulate myself for a year on Medium, and evaluate whether my articles constitute a victorious Italian campaign or a foolish attempt at attacking Russia.

Napoleonic metaphors aside, I hope you’ll forgive this mindless and probably pointless self-congratulation, but I’ve been on Medium one year this month. An occasion such as this precipitates a certain amount of narcissistic, navel-gazing evaluation, yet on the whole, I am pleased with my progress.

I generally avoid Now That’s What I Call Medium style greatest hits compilation articles (not counting my monthly Dillon Picks selections where I highlight the work of other writers). However, I’m making an exception on this occasion, despite understanding no one else gives an airborne fornication about this anniversary (quite rightly), and that this is therefore unrepentant self-indulgence. So without further ado, here are twelve personally selected Medium highlights by yours truly from over the past year; one to represent each month, though not strictly one from each month, if that makes sense.
