The Dillon Empire’s Other Dominions: Revised Edition
A smug, self-satisfied promotion of what I get up to outside this site
In JRR Tolkien’s landmark fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings, the wizard Gandalf is known in the Shire chiefly for his memorable fireworks. His real business is more difficult and dangerous, outside of the Shire. That’s a bit like me, on this site. Yes, I just arrogantly compared myself with Gandalf. My “fireworks” are the film articles you can read here, but my real business is… well, not particularly dangerous, but sometimes difficult. Actually, let’s just forget this whole Gandalf analogy. It doesn’t hold up to any scrutiny.
Instead, you should know that this article is a revamped version of an article I wrote a year ago, entitled The Dillon Empire’s Other Dominions. I pinned it to my profile in a smug, show-off sort of way (just as this one will be), but noticed recently that it could use a fresh lick of paint. Hence, this updated take on what I get up to outside these hallowed columns. Some of you will rightly not give a damn. However, for those of you possessed by cavalier attitudes to curiosity, akin to felines with a reckless disregard for their personal safety, read on.
