The historic context of this film is very important to consider, I completely agree. I've written about this film as well in the past, but I tend to focus on the filmmaking quality and the hugely powerful life-affirming message (at least one person I know was going to commit suicide then didn't because they saw this film). It's great that you write about the historic side here. :)
