…f this all sounds just a bit insane, you clearly never suffered through 12 years of Catholic school. At ten years old in 1976, an old Irish American priest placed us in the position of trying to reconcile the idea of raising money for the children of Northern Ireland orphaned by the ongoing Troubles while also being told to pray for the success of the IRA. So, yeah, but I digress.

The idea that Jesus Christ would condone prayers for the success of the IRA - given what he said about those who live by the sword dying by the sword, etc - is unbelievably stupid. I have a lot of sympathy with the Irish Republican cause, but the minute they brought religious violence and terrorism into the mix, they lost me.
