The original is very good, but it isn't perfect. I wasn't impressed with the sequels (my full thoughts on those are linked to in the main article). Many missed opportunities, despite the slick vehicular chase in Reloaded (divorced from the narrative context).

As mentioned elsewhere in these comments, I hoped for a Matrix-within-a-Matrix narrative, with Neo ultimately finding he's not human but a self-aware computer glitch in the Matrix, who then decides to destroy the Matrix and free humanity (sacrificially destroying himself in the process). I just wish I'd had the chance to write it. :)
